The simple pleasures


What makes us happy? Being rich? Living in a large house? Having a new car? Going on expensive holidays?

In this weeks 'Big Issue', Ingrid Fetell Lee discusses what gives us pleasure.... Her summary is that we can find joy in colour and the aesthetics of everyday life. The gift of flowers, the particular colour of a wall. 'Joy is deceptively simple. Though each moment seems small, it can have bigger ripple effects'. She uses the example of an Henri Matisse painting, 'The Music' as an example of vibrant colour giving joy.
